What Kind Of Injuries Can Result From A Rear End Collision In Albany?

Rear-end collisions in Albany can lead to various injuries.

If these injuries aren't treated properly as soon as possible, they can create chronic issues.

The injuries can also decrease your mobility, preventing you from performing everyday tasks and the hobbies you once enjoyed.

The sooner these injuries are detected and treated after a rear end collision in Albany, the more likely you are to make a full recovery.

Here's what to do when someone hits your car from behind in Albany.

If you've been injured in a car accident, our Albany, Ga car accident chiropractor can help you.

The article below will discuss a few prevalent injuries after rear-end accidents.

Table of Contents

Back and Spine Injuries

A very common injury after a rear-end crash is a back injury.

Back and spinal injuries should be taken seriously and treated immediately because their repercussions can linger with you for a lifetime.

The impact from a rear-end collision can compress the spine and put pressure on your vertebrae.

This typically results in bruises to lower back muscles and ligaments.

Bulging and herniated discs are also very common after rear-end accidents.

Your discs are shaped like small pancakes and act as shock absorbers between the bony vertebra of your spine.

Rear-end accidents frequently cause them to tear open and leak or force the discs out of position.

This puts painful pressure against your spinal cord, causing pain, numbness, or tingling in the back or other parts of the body.

Whiplash Injuries

Whiplash is a type of injury to the neck, shoulder, or upper back.

Whiplash is caused by the head and neck being snapped forward and backward by a sudden movement, like the impact of a rear-end collision.

Whiplash often occurs during rear-end crashes because of the sudden, unexpected impact on the vehicle.

Collisions at low speeds and even fender benders have been known to cause whiplash.

Soft tissue damage to the muscles and ligaments of the neck and shoulder is also common during these accidents, stretching them beyond their normal range of motion without warning.

Whiplash injuries are typically excruciating and may linger for days or weeks, especially if left untreated.

If you think you have whiplash and notice severe pain after an accident that persists for several days, spreads through your arms and legs, or creates numbness, weakness, or tingling, you should see a car accident chiropractor right away.

These are symptoms telling you something is very wrong.

Other common symptoms of a whiplash injury are headaches, dizziness, stiffness, muscle spasms, and shoulder pain.
