Best Ways to Care for Your Body Between Chiropractic Adjustments

Top 4 Ways You Can Care For Yourself Between Chiropractic Visits

Table of contents:

Getting regular adjustments to your body from a chiropractor has many benefits such as improving your posture, improving your sleep, reduce your stress level, boost your immune system, and releasing toxins in your body just to name a few.

These chiropractic adjustment benefits are the main reasons people enjoy the holistic drug- free approach to caring and healing their bodies naturally.

When you first see a chiropractor they will design a treatment plan tailored to your needs. It's very important that you stick to this plan so you can receive the full benefits of your care.

But, many people are left wondering what they can do in between adjustments to maintain their overall health and keep the pain away.

There are several easy steps you can take to absorb the total benefits of your regular chiropractic adjustment.

Let's take a look at four ways to properly care for yourself between your chiropractic care appointments.

1. Getting Proper Hydration

First of all, you don't want to be dehydrated, no matter what.

It's very important to be sure you stay properly hydrated from one adjustment to the next.

Most people want to know how to stay properly hydrated to exercise or excel in their sports performance, while others just want to know how much to drink on a regular day to stay hydrated.

The answer isn’t that simple anymore.

At one time, it was said that everyone needed eight 8 ounce cups of water a day to stay hydrated.

But now, weight, age, activity level, and climate are all a part of the formula as to how much water is the right amount for you to stay hydrated.

However, an easy way to tell if you are hydrated or not is to examine your urine. If you have clear to light yellow urine than your hydrated, but if it’s a darker yellow then you’re dehydrated and there may even be a little bit of an odor as well.

The American Council on Exercise has more specific guidelines for staying hydrated before, during, and after you work out.

Don’t underestimate the impact good hydration has on your overall health.

Some of the main benefits of hydration are that the water helps regulate your body temperature and lubricates your joints.  It also transports nutrients that keep you healthy and provides energy for you to function at your highest level.

Dehydration can lead to you feeling overly tired, dizziness, head fog, muscle cramps, and it can just bring down your general health.

Maintain your full health benefits of regular chiropractor visits by drinking enough water daily to maximize your performance.

2. Maintaining Proper Movement

Get moving every day, the right way! What does that mean? You need functional movement that supports your spine and joints instead of negatively displacing them.

The tissues around your spine and pelvis need to be flexible enough to allow for the normal movement of your spine that does not place an abnormal amount of force on joints.

By maintaining proper movement, you are less likely to experience injuries to your spine and prevent back pain.

When you move in a dysfunctional manner, your body is not using the support of the core causing tension throughout the tissues surrounding the joints in your body.

Moving that way will throw your body out of alignment and cause you pain.

This is why coaches and trainers typically watch your form as you play or work out. When you hear “good form” then you know that your spine is properly aligned as you move.

Make sure you are moving properly in your daily activities to get the most out of your chiropractic treatment.

3. Have Good Body Balance

Your Body Balance is important to your daily movements. Having good balance can improve your ability to walk or stand without straining muscles or tissues in your body.

Without good balance, you will struggle to walk up and downstairs and experience more falls as you age.

There are simple daily exercises to improve your balance.

You can do things such as stand on one leg at a time and hold it for 10 seconds.

Or, you could walk 25 steps heel to toe and walk in a straight line for as long as you can.

These simple walking exercises are easy to implement in your day and help maintain your spinal adjustment.

4. Stretch Daily

People tend to stretch before and after workouts but forget about daily stretches on off days.

Those who don’t exercise regularly probably don't stretch at all.

Stretching exercises need to be a part of everyone's daily routine to improve your flexibility and maintain good health.

With flexibility, your spine will maintain its full range of movement. Another benefit of daily stretching is that your body stays strong, healthy, and pain-free.

If you lose your flexibility your muscles shorten, tighten, and become weak. Don’t worry you can start adding it in every day and regain flexibility a little at a time and build strength that will take the pressure off of your joints.

Stretching is not a once in a while fix, it has to be done regularly to feel the benefits and help support a standard spinal adjustment.
